The Journey Begins

Or is it?  Well, it’s not really a journey, is it?  More of a vehicle to express my views and opinions.  Wait, if it’s a vehicle then surely there’s a direction of travel which by proxy means this is a journey? I’ll leave this thought with you to ponder.

Anyway, before I started this website, I had already written my first piece – ‘Was Thompson Vs Till a Let-Down?’  So right now, it’s a site with a logo and a single post that no-one knows about.  A lonely place.  Kind of feel like something is missing so I’m writing this introductory piece as a quick hello and a bit of an insight to the motives behind me sharing my thoughts.

I love combat sports, have done since I was a child.  I was obsessed with pro-wrestling which was my gateway drug into MMA and Boxing.  The thing with these two sports is, although they are mainstream, the way in which they are covered by the media isn’t.  Now I need to clarify, this isn’t me trying to insult anyone.  Quite the opposite.  The access figures within the sports give to media outlets is unparalleled.  This allows us, the fans, to almost be a part of stories and events.  Where in other sports, it’s all behind closed doors, in boxing and MMA, that door is left slightly ajar for us to peak into.

I spend hours a week watching, listening and reading about MMA and Boxing.  I’d consider myself to be an intelligent bloke (relatively speaking) so naturally, when something happens, I tend to have an opinion…with no-one to discuss it with *Insert emoji expressing sadness and disappointment*

So, I decided to start The Battle Camp.  A place where I can go to express these thoughts.  No longer do they have to stay bottled up and hidden in a deep cellar of my brain, destined never to see the light of day.
